Session Six: Law No. 105 and the National Commission for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared

  • Draw on the Lebanese experience or the Lebanese process that led to the adoption of Law No. 105 and the establishment of the National Commission for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared.

    The law on the missing and forcibly disappeared people No.105/2018 ,adopted by the Lebanese Parliament ,is the result of the participatory process in which Lebanese and international experts, as well as civil society organizations, collaborated ,with the families of the missing and forcibly disappeared committee at the forefront

    The law 105 on the missing and forcibly disappeared people stipulates the establishment of a national commission whose mission is to uncover the fate of the missing and hold and holds accountable those responsible for enforced disappearances

    Law 105 proposes punitive measures for those who refuse to disclose information or obstruct access to it

    The national commission for the missing and the forcibly disappeared will only investigate the case of the Lebanese missing people and will not address the issue of detainees in Syrian prisons
